THE VENUE
Maravista Farm is a culinary garden of organic, locally grown produce used by the Ogilvie Group venues that include Rickys, Locale Noosa, Wood Fire Grill and aromas noosa. Set on a stunning 250 hectare working macadamia farm in the Noosa Hinterland (Queensland, Australia), the property boasts beautiful fertile land, rolling hills, more than 20,000 macadamia trees, vegetable, citrus trees, micro herb and honey production. Three vegetable plots are currently in production as well as macadamia and a substantial citrus grove with over 60 fruiting trees. Maravista Farm’s newest residents are a small herd of Ultra Black cattle that enjoy life on the farm. The team at the Ogilvie Group operate like a tight knit family, always ready to welcome a new member, especially one who is just as passionate about Maravista Farm as they are!
THE POSITION
Maravista Farm is seeking an incredible Farmer to oversee the Maravista Farm production of fruit and vegetables following organic and natural practices.
Key responsibilities of this role are set out below;
- Is responsible for all aspects of vegetable, flower, herb and micro herb production.
- Maintain all areas and presentation of the farm to very high standards.
- Ability to work with restaurant production requirements.
- Trial ongoing varieties to determine best types of production for our restaurants, focusing on the soil and location of each variety.
- Oversee Facebook ordering and feedback from the Head Chef of each restaurant.
- Ensure there is an effective process for ordering in place.
- Pick up and deliver all necessary item produce.
- Ability to liaise with various trades people.
- Provide ongoing training necessary for staff.
- Organise harvest and preparation for herbs, flowers, vegetables.
- All aspects of vegetable production including ground prep, irrigation install and sowing.
- Organise work list and required activities for casual workers.
- Ordering necessary materials required for all aspects of production.
- Seed, seedling, soil amendments, infrastructure, nutrient imputs, tools, and equipment.
- Organise micro herb production.
- Liaise with chefs to determine present and future needs and other members of organisation, publicity, other farm staff management.
- Provide regular reports and updates.
